MSERA OPERATIONS MANUAL: Responsibilities and Duties of Officers

Office of Executive Secretary

Purpose: The position of Executive Secretary exists to facilitate continuity in the management and operation of MSERA from year to year as well as to provide a permanent office for the Association.

Selection: The Board of the Association appoints the Executive Secretary, who is an ex officio, non-voting member of the Board and serves at the pleasure of the Board. The position was filled by action of the Board in 1985 with the effective date of the appointment being January 17, 1986.

Responsibilities: The duties of the Executive Secretary are delineated in the Bylaws of MSERA. Those duties are as follows:

  1. Coordinates the work of the Association and serving as advisor in all activities of the Association
  2. Provides liaison with other professional organizations and entities on behalf of the Association
  3. Provides a repository of historical documents and records of the Association.
  4. Maintains a current compilation of the policies and procedures approved by the Board.
  5. Performs business and communication functions of the Association as directed by the Board.
  6. Serves as Secretary-Treasurer of the MSER Foundation.
